HMY’s Plant in France Receives Triple Certification as a Guarantee of Commitment to Sustainability

HMY has officially received triple ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification in its production plant in France. These certifications serve as a guarantee for HMY’s clients that the company follows international standards and the legal regulations that apply to the certified areas.

This triple certification was obtained last November, although HMY’s plant in France already had ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. These certifications must be renewed annually to ensure that all necessary procedures and regulations continue to be followed.

Obtaining these certifications guarantees that HMY complies with international standards in their work processes. The content in the certifications and their required annual update, ensure that HMY abides by legal regulations concerning the environment as well as those related to health and safety in the workplace, which are basic aspects of sustainability for businesses.

It also demonstrates the fact that consumption of raw materials and energy are being monitored, as well as the outputs of the process, measuring and reducing the impact of wasteful energy and material consumption. In this way, we progressively achieve better protection and conservation of the environment.

But beyond this, HMY is working on safer internal processes for workers and in more ergonomic designs for the end user. This also has a favorable impact in terms of occupational safety and health since it increases productivity and reduces absences and accidents.

In conclusion, HMY considers obtaining this triple certification to be a great achievement. First, because the company gains official recognition for complying with international standards, processes and norms. Second, because it also attests to the fact that HMY works in a transparent and sustainable way in search of better conditions for their workers, for their clients and for the environment.

These certifications fully guarantee the company’s sustainability and business commitment. On an international level, it is not only large multinational corporations, such as Inditex, AIRBUS, Boeing or Valeo, that have these certifications, but many small and medium-sized companies also seek to improve their position and image with their clients through certification.

In what areas are these certifications applied?

The ISO 9001:2015 certification, Quality Management System (QMS), is an internationally recognized global benchmark, with more than one million certificate holders worldwide. It ensures that a standard process map is followed and that we are all working the same way. In practical terms, it ensures that businesses do what they say that they are doing, and that no one is being deceived.

The ISO 14001:2015 Certification is an Environmental Management System (SGA) standard, which works similarly to the previous one, but focuses on compliance with the specific legal regulations on the environment. By obtaining this certification, companies position themselves as socially responsible and reinforce their image to clients and consumers.

As for the OHSAS 18001:2007, this is a certification for Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems(SST), which focuses on compliance with specific legal regulations in these areas and helps companies to establish a health and safety policy in their work.

These certifications are granted by outside firms, who conduct an audit and verify that the recipient exceeds all the necessary requirements. In the case of HMY France and Business Unit West, SGS was chosen as the auditor for their recognition as an international certifier.
