HMY has a solid commitment to sustainability in all of its activities. With these types of practices we are carrying out a long-term business project and we are doing it by taking care of our resources and business partners. Also by making sure our company has a positive impact, on everything around us, whether it’s the environment, our staff, clients, or end users.
HMY’s Factory In Cariñena Receives The “Calculate and Reduce” Seal
A clear example of HMY’s policies in favor of sustainability is the on-going work at the Cariñena factory. These facilities, which are strongly committed to protecting the environment, have long been certified with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EMAS and OHSAS 18001 certifications, as well as international certifications like the FSC and PEFC.
But these aren’t the only actions we’re taking at HMY. The Cariñena factory has already registered its carbon footprint in 2015 and 2016, for which it received the “Calculate” seal from Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment – and we have also already solicited the registration for 2014, and we will do the same for 2017.
The goal of this registration process is to receive the “Calculate and Reduce” seal, which would make HMY more solidly recognized for its sustainability by quantifying and verifying the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at the Cariñena factory.
Once obtained, the next step will be to receive the “Calculate, Reduce, and Compensate” seal, which recognizes companies that participate voluntarily in efforts to tackle climate change, and reflect a reduction in energy consumption and waste production.
We are taking actions to advance this sustainability policy, from replacing machinery to taking better advantage of available resources and even fostering greater environmental awareness among staff.
A Global Commitment To Sustainability
The HMY factory in Spain isn’t the only one that’s committed to sustainability. HMY applies and promotes sustainable measures at each and every one of its facilities and with all of its projects.
A few months ago, the HMY factory in France also officially received the triple certifications ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, which serves as a guarantee for clients that international standards and their corresponding legal regulations in the areas certified are followed.
