The Cultura store is located in the centre of Brive and was opened on Wednesday 6th April. It is mainly orientated around books but it also offers other services and events and has incorporated a new furniture concept.
A developing bookstore
Cultura has revived the historic bookstore located at 9 avenue de Paris by opening a store of 1,100 sqm2, which offers a complete library of around 45 000 books, stationary articles, fine-arts and a kids section (learning through play).
Already established on the outskirts of Brive for 15 years (HMY store), Cultura reinforces their presence in a city closely tied to the book industry, where every year authors, publishers and readers come to attend the Brive fair. 20 employees assist the store manager Fabrice Lesade. Christian Signol, a famous author established in Brive, sponsored the opening of the store.

A connected store
HMY has worked closely with central services and the store manager for the development of a range of specific furniture adapted to the activities of the bookstore in the city-center. Hence, the catalogue was developed with the arrival of new color shades, wooden sliding library shelves and newly designed reading tables. This was a challenge for HMY considering that the current layout had strong architecture, as is in common in Brive, which forced teams to adapt the furniture to the particularity of the location.
This successful project has forced Cultura to rethink upcoming stores in the next few months.
Cultura is an independent brand founded in 1998, doubling as a distributor and a cultural leader. Amongst its many diverse products, it allows customers to participate in more than 3,000 annual events (book signings, showcases, etc.) and 35,000 creative workshops that bring together almost 250,000 participants.
Cultura currently employs 2850 people and has 67 stores. They also have their own website, www.cultura.com, for online sales and a community website: Mon Cultura, which brings together more than 10, 500 members.
The Cultura Foundation was created in 2012 and is placed under the aegis of the French foundation. It embodies the values and communicates the missions of the brand, making culture accessible to all. It supports educational and social projects around the local Cultura stores.
